I found this kit at Wal-mart for 10 cents on sale and decided it was a fun thing to make it up with some others I purchased, and incorporate these into some kind of a quilt block. I stitched this up (albeit with significant changes from the kit...I never really learned to follow instructions) and then found some coordinated color materials from my stache to create a quilt block arond it. I tucked all the loose ends under the actual quilting and ironed on a piece of adhesive sewing fabric to keep the threads and things in place and to add a little more body to the aida cloth. The final block is 7.25 x 8 inches, the cross stitch is 1.75 x 2.5, so this is a small block. If you intend to wash your quilt, be sure to use color fast floss. I envision something like this with the alphabet series, for kids quilts in the nursery.
