Stained glass pattern for tennis lovers. This broken tennis racket string and tennis ball stained glass pattern can be made as an oval panel, or modified to fit inside an old wooden racket. Two ways to fit the panel within the racket (you must trace the pattern exactly the inside dimension of the racket before you make the panel). I used wooden rackets and took them to the local lumber mill or hardware store to have a notch routed out on one side to make the tennis racket act like a frame (maybe you can do this yourself). Then I sanded and urethaned the racket, measured exactly the inside dimension of the routed out area, and built my panel to fit in. After finishing the panel, I used silicone caulk to fix the panel within the racket. Another way to fix the panel within the racket if you don't want to rout out the wooden frame, is to solder thin copper wires from the panel into the "string holes" in the body of the racket. Probably five or six of these wires would work. Be sure to watch not to burn the wood. This is a great gift for a tennis "nut". I found a little glass heart at Michaels crafts which I inserted just for fun.
