Mayan alphabet letter ik meaning breath or spirit, also the number 2.  This image kind of has a biological look to me, reproductive in fact.  I would have thought, like other cultures, the seat of breath would have looked more like the heart or lungs. Its interesting how language develops first around the most important things to communicate... in this case the breath of life, as in most languages.
