Studying this glyph alphabet from ancient Maya is totally interesting.  Considering that the crocodile is number 1 on their alphabet sort of indicates the huge effect and impact of that animal on their culture.  This picture sort of has the belly of a segmented creature, I made the body a grey green stained glass (in this pattern) and the teeth (or what i suppose are symbols of teeth) white, and the surrounding (or boundary stained glass frame) a blue, like water. The glyph posted on wikipedia (thanks wikipedia for all your information on Mayan culture) is included as the last page of the pattern.
This glyph is also representative of the numeral 1.
